The Sound of Now – The Search for New Music
“New music” isn’t just about the latest tracks. Its music that you’ve never heard before, or maybe even never knew existed.
I am addicted to new music, and fortunately (unfortunately?) the Internet is there to feed my habit, allowing me to dig as deeply as I care to, and occasionally rewarding me with finding new sounds that blow me away.
Here are some tracks that are currently on heavy rotation:

Mr Oizo – Pourriture
Awesome electro house track A hot remix he did of a new Tiga track Shoes: |

Friendly Fires – Paris (Aeroplane Remix)
I guess this is what they call Italo Disco…..really nice happy groove |

The Golden Filter – Moonlight Fantasy
More Italo Disco now. Love the spacey sound, the disco violins and hand claps… |

Prodigy – Omen (Noisia Remix)
Prodigy are back…or is this just a great remix? Didnt think much about the rest of their new album but this banger blew me away.. |

Benga
Dubstep’s been referred to as “IDM for the Facebook generation”…. a sort of geeky, non-danceable electronic music. Benga takes this sound and puts in this aggressive techno vibe that gives it life….awesome shit Here’s a mix that he did for BBC 1 Radio Breezeblock: |

Flying Lotus
Ever since I first heard Dabrye I’ve became obsessed with his sound….a sort of leftfield, futuristic, electronic hip-hop. Theres guys like J Dilla, Prefuse 73, Madlib etc…but never really quite got into them. And then I found Flying Lotus and his album Los Angeles, 17 solid tracks of moody, glitchy hiphop…..syncopated beats and odd crackling hissing sounds…a precisely edited mess with a really good groove full of depth and atmosphere. Here’s an BBC 1 Radio Essential Mix he did last November. A Mike Slott remix of Robertaflack off of Los Angeles: |

Gilles Peterson – Worldwide – BBC 1 Radio
I actually only started listening to his shows lately (he’s been doing this for 10 years now). This guy just has the most incredible taste in music. Listening to his show it almost feels like a privilege to be able to hear really rare grooves that you’ll probably never find (or even think of finding) yourself. Gilles Peterson, Skream – Worldwide 01/15 Lots more of Gilles Peterson at newmixes.com |

Mary Anne Hobbes Experimental – BBC Radio 1
This is like the dark version of the Gilles Peterson show. Shes a bit annoying to listen to sometimes but theres no denying that she is obsessed with music, typically techno, dubstep, hip hop etc…. |
