My top ten singles for 2007
I love end of the year lists…and here’s my own picks for the top ten tracks of 2007:

1. Thom Yorke – The Clock (Surgeon Remix)

2. Justin Timberlake – Lovestoned (Justice Remix)

3. Cool Kids – I Rock

4. Dabrye – Encoded Flow (feat Kadence)
[audio:Dabrye-encoded flow (feat kadence).mp3] Technically this is from 2006 but I played this album well into 2007. Dark 80s sci-fi and horror film sampled hip hop beats thumping on a buzzy bassline: Dabrye is hip hop in a Bladerunner world. |

5. Yuki – The End of Shite
[audio:YUKI - the end of shite.mp3] This one of those songs you end up liking because you the video is so damn great. Oh and the song title’s pretty awesome too. Super catchy rock influenced J-pop. |

6. Burial – Near Dark
[audio:Burial - Near Dark.mp3] Burial is like a 21st century Massive Attack – he makes brooding, dark, romantic music dripping with atmosphere and haunting samples. Music for 4am city people. One of the standout producers in the new burgeoning dubstep scene. |

7. Simian Mobile Disco – Hustler (A-Trak Remix)
[audio:simian_mobile_disco_-_hustler_a-trak_remix.mp3] 2007 is the year of SMD. “Hustler” came out as a single in 2006 but got was released on SMD’s LP “Attack Delay Sustain Release” in 07. 8. Radiohead vs Eve – Tambourine Reckoner (mashup)

9. Nicole Scherzinger feat. T.I. – Whatever U Like
[audio:Nicole Scherzinger Ft. T.I. - Whatever U Like.mp3] This is one of the few guilty pleasure songs that I’m willing to admit I listen to. The beat just kills it for me here. |

10. TTC – Paris Paris
[audio:TTC_Paris.mp3] I have no idea what these French dudes are saying but I love their sound: fun jumpy electro hip hop beats and unique MCing style |
